Chief Information Security for the State of Washington, Vinod Brahmapuram and Corporate VP of Microsoft’s Customer Security and Trust (CST) team, Tim Burt, joined Learn With CityU to talk about the tech changes they are witnessing during the Covid-19 pandemic. With everyone quarantined at home and many working from home, the experience panelist shared the recent and most common cyber attacks in this new landscape and provided some great ways organizations and individuals can protect against phishing attacks.
Tom Burt leads Microsoft’s Customer Security and Trust (CST) team. A cross disciplinary team of engineers, lawyers, policy advocates, project managers, business professionals, data analysts and cybercrime investigators, Burt’s team drives continuous improvement to advance customer security and trust in our products and online services. Burt’s team is formulating and advocating cybersecurity policy globally – advancing the Digital Geneva Convention, the Cybersecurity Tech Accord, and the Defending Democracy Program – and collaborating with public and private organizations to disrupt cyberattacks and support deterrence efforts.
Vinod Brahmapuram oversees WaTech’s state Office of Cybersecurity and is responsible for establishing and leading the strategic direction of cybersecurity for state government, as well as advising the Governor and Legislators on key cyber issues.Vinod has more than 20 years of information technology experience with deep expertise in managing cybersecurity, developing and leading high-performing teams, and managing risk and compliance in heavily regulated environments.
