Theater has the power to change lives. At Las Colinas Detention and Reentry Facility in Santee, women in our custody are participating in a drama program to help prepare them in rejoining our communities. Turns out, performing Shakespeare can be a liberating and healing experience. Watch this video to learn more about their second act through performing arts.
The San Diego County Sheriff's Department operates eight detention facilities. It's Reentry Services Division is built around the idea of change, hope and rehabilitation - that people can live a different life from the one that brought them behind bars. We have more than four dozen educational, wellness, vocational and psycho-social programs to help prepare people in custody for their return to society. We want them to develop the skills necessary to be successful in our communities so they never have to come back to our facilities. This results in safer communities. sdsheriff.net/reentryworks/
