Job Responsibilities

The South Carolina Department of Natural Resources (SCDNR)  seasonal North American Bat Monitoring Program (NABat) technician will run the NABat acoustics project across South Carolina in 2023.  Duties include communicating and working with approximately forty (40) volunteers and partners to place acoustic bat monitoring equipment at pre-defined sites, conducting acoustic mobile surveys, entering and managing data, assisting with bat call analysis, and submitting to the NABat and South Carolina Heritage Trust databases.  Training for acoustic analysis software and basic manual vetting of bat calls will be provided.  

Minimum and Additional Requirements

An associate degree in the technical sciences and one (1) year of experience in wildlife or fisheries work;  or a high school diploma and three (3) years experience in wildlife or fisheries work.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree.  One (1) year of related experience.  Acoustic bat monitoring experience preferred.  Ability to drive, hike and carry equipment in remote country and challenging field conditions.  Ability to manage logistically complex project independently, travel statewide, follow protocols and enter data.  Position will be based out of Clemson but will work statewide.
