Job Summary

We are looking for a Supervisor to join our team. The Crisis Response Social Work Supervisor will supervise staff in in the Crisis Response Program, including supervising daily operations and providing clinical supervision. Crisis Response Social Workers respond to people in crisis with mental health, substance use, behavioral, housing, financial and other social service needs.  Their duties include considerable public contact and are intended to bridge the gap between emergency medical response and/or law enforcement and the social needs of people within this population.  They directly contact and/or accompany emergency medical responders and/or law enforcement on patrol to assist individuals belonging to the target population in accessing mental health, substance use, homeless or other social services.  

The Crisis Response Social Work Supervisor supervises the daily shift activities and personnel of the Crisis Response program, in addition to providing clinical supervision to the program staff. The Supervisor reports to the Program Manager, who is responsible for the program and has final decision-making authority. The Supervisor will respond to calls for service as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Directly supervises assigned staff who work on rotating shift schedules in the field. Supervises subordinate personnel, including motivating, training, and delegating assignments; monitoring performance; conducting performance evaluations; taking disciplinary/corrective action; recommending salary increases and promotions; and recommending hiring and terminations.

  • Provides clinical supervision to program staff. Consults with assigned staff about ethical issues, clinical best practices, resource planning, and resource connecting. 
  • Oversees daily shift activities of the Crisis Response program including scheduling and logistics.
  • Supports the Program Manager in planning, organizing, developing, and maintaining the City’s Community Responder program, to include:
    1. Assisting with coordinating policies and planning to include drafting policies and procedures for the program. 
    2. Ensuring Crisis Response Social Workers submit and maintain program data and outcomes.
    3. Overseeing service-delivery improvements, training requirements, and SOPs
Respond with fire and police personnel to individuals in crisis including, behavioral health, substance use, homelessness, self-neglect, and hoarding, as needed.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of the principles of behavior and motivation.
  • Knowledge of community health, housing, financial, and behavioral health resources and criteria for providing services.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal social service programs and eligibility criteria, including Veteran-specific programs, Medicare, and Medicaid.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (including Word, Excel, Outlook) or similar programs.
  • Skilled in professional writing, communication, and report preparation. 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with team members, other departments and city staff, city officials and the public.
  • Proficient research, statistical and analytical skills.
  • Work effectively in team environments.
  • Express ideas and recommendations clearly and effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders, including elected officials, non-profit partners, and multi-jurisdictional staff to implement programmatic solutions.
  • Ability to adjust quickly to changing priorities in physically demanding, stressful, and environmentally diverse conditions. 
  • Ability to commit to working with the team to analyze outcomes and challenges.
  • Ability to work effectively as a member in formal and informal teams.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • A master's degree in social work and 3-5 years’ experience working from a trauma-informed approach with individuals with significant mental health and substance use disorders or in a Mobile Integrated Health Program.  
  • Two years supervising a team in a social service setting.
Licenses and Other Requirements:
  • Current Washington State Driver’s License is required.
  • Licensed Independent Clinical Social worker is preferred.  
  • Clinical Supervisor within the State of Washington (or ability to obtain within 90 days) is also preferred.

Paydays - The City of Bellevue pays employees on the 8th and the 23rd of each month (24 pay periods per year).

Please note that the City does not participate in the Social Security Administration (SSA) program, and employees do not earn social security credits. The mandatory DRS retirement pension plan provides the required social security replacement plan. Any social security benefits earned at other places of employment may be reduced because they are subject to the Windfall Elimination Provision or the Government Pension Offset.
