This position is a part of our 18 month transitional workforce development program.

Tech Dump, a division of Jobs Foundation, is a growing 501(c)(3) social enterprise providing job training and practical experience for adults facing barriers to employment to prepare them to be more valuable employees with an expanding future. We accomplish this through recycling (Tech Dump) and refurbishing (Tech Discounts) electronics at two locations in the Twin Cities. 

TITLE: Teardown Specialist 

REPORTS TO: Tech Dump Plant Manager 

LOCATION: Tech Dump HQ, 860 Vandalia Street, Saint Paul, MN 55114 SUMMARY: This position will de-manufacture and disassemble various electronics, down to the cords, boards, plastics, and steel. This employee should be a fast learner, with a gift for using his/her hands to take things apart using electric and manual hand tools. This individual must have the ability to learn the differences between the various components. 

ESSENTIAL ACCOUNTABILITIES: ● Able to learn quickly and properly sort various components into proper categories. ● Work with team members to meet daily and weekly productivity goals - this position is expected to individually disassemble 1,200 pounds of electronics daily. ● Keep the work area clean. ● Follow all safety regulations and precautions. 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: ● Drug-free, with pre-employment drug testing. ● Previous experience in electronics disassembly ● Ability to lift heavy boxes and items (75-100 pounds). ● Experience with or proven interest in electronics. ● Experience with a pallet jack and/or forklift. ● Support of and ability to reflect the values of Tech Dump: Teamwork, Respect, Responsibility, Commitment, and Hope. Additional Position Information: ● Pay Range: Starting at $14/hour, depending on experience ● Classification: Non-exempt, according to FLSA guidelines. ● Physical Requirements: The warehouse environment includes regular standing and lifting of approximately 50#, loud noises, fluorescent lighting, dusty area. ● Work Schedule: This is a full-time position. Core business hours are Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Availability to work frequent Saturday events from March - November.
