From the Maldives to Minneapolis, 11 new hotels we’re excited to see open this spring
Spring is here, and with it come beautiful new blossoms, warmer weather, longer days and a handful of new hotels we can't wait to visit.
This spring and early summer is an exceptionally special time for hotels because we're finally seeing hard opening dates for projects that have had to push through a pandemic, international supply chain disruptions, labor shortages and all the other problems big and small we've faced throughout the last two years (which really have felt like two decades).

Now, as COVID-19 restrictions continue to ease or totally disappear, countries reopen (g'day Australia!) and travel starts to feel a bit more familiar, we've rounded up 11 exciting new hotels opening between now and the end of June.
From a design-forward hotel in Panama that's reclaiming the country's storied history to the return of Hyatt's Alila brand to the Maldives along with a megahotel in Los Angeles, a charming inn on Cape Cod and an industrial-chic pad in Sydney, here are the hotels we can't stop talking about at TPG.
Botanika Osa Peninsula, Curio Collection by Hilton in Costa Rica
If you've been dreaming about visiting Costa Rica's Osa Peninsula, one of the most biologically intense places on Earth, you'll be thrilled to hear that the long-awaited Botanika Osa Peninsula is finally opening its doors to guests on May 3.
Part of Hilton's Curio Collection, this eco-resort will offer standard rooms as well as one-, two- and three-bedroom suites, garden suites and villas with Serta Sweet Dreams beds and a design that "seamlessly [blurs] the lines between outdoors and in," which is great considering the resort is smack in the middle of the rainforest.
At Botanika, guests can enjoy sustainable Costa Rican food at the Tierra a la Mesa restaurant or indulge at Babanca Wine Bar, get a Costa Rican coffee scrub at the spa, or relax in the sun by the pool. But, of course, it's what's beyond the resort, out in nature, that truly attracts guests to this region, including the rainforest and its more than 500,000 unique species. The hotel can arrange experiences that include paddling alongside whale sharks, hiking to a local farm for hand-caught tilapia or learning about ways to protect the environment at the resort's conservation center.
How to book: Cash rates for the first few months at Botanika Osa Peninsula seem to fluctuate between $280 and $400 per night for a standard guest room. Standard award nights start at 80,000 Hilton Honors points.
Hotel La Compania, Casco Antiguo in Panama City
History, art and design converge at the Hotel La Compania, part of Hyatt's Unbound Collection and the first of the portfolio in Central America.
Set to open on April 12 in the cultural district of Casco Antiguo in the heart of Panama City, this 88-room hotel is in a UNESCO World Heritage site and looks back at "three distinct chapters in the hotel's rich history" including Spanish colonial, French colonial and beaux-arts, with each of its three wings representing a different period.
Beyond a stunning and design-forward makeover of the 17th-century building, guests can also expect five in-house restaurants and two bars, an internal courtyard with a garden, a spa with four treatment rooms, an infinity pool with 360-degree views of the Pacific Ocean and Panama City, and a curated collection of more than 1,600 original photographs and other works of art decorating the entire hotel.
How to book: Cash rates start at around $290 per night. As a Category 3 World of Hyatt hotel, award nights can be found between 9,000 and 15,000 points. With the World of Hyatt Credit Card, you could get a few award nights here with the card's current offer of 30,000 bonus points after you spend $3,000 on purchases in your first three months from account opening. Plus, up to 30,000 More Bonus Points by earning 2 Bonus Points total per $1 spent in the first six months from account opening on purchases that normally earn 1 Bonus Point, on up to $15,000 spent.
Chapter House in Yarmouth Port, Massachusetts
Quaint, luxurious inns don't get enough credit if you ask me. But that's not the case in New England and, as of this month, Cape Cod has a newly reimagined property to add to the landscape that dates back to 1716.
Set on 2 well-manicured acres and boasting a Victorian-style main home and carriage house with 21 guestrooms in total, Chapter House is exactly what you're looking for when heading off for a spring trip on the Cape. Trust me.
At one of the largest inns on the cape, you'll find a specialty cocktail bar perfect for drinks before heading out to dinner at a nearby restaurant, along with fire pits and lawn chairs where you can enjoy the fresh coastal air. There's also curated art throughout the property that reflects the surrounding area. Conveniently located near beaches and restaurants, a stay at Chapter House is a cozy and laid-back way to ease into the warmer months.
How to book: Cash rates booked directly through the inn start at $209 per night.
Conrad Los Angeles
Some hotels are small and quaint, others are gigantic and part of larger developments designed to completely transform a neighborhood. The upcoming Conrad Los Angeles, set to open on June 1, is certainly of the latter. Part of a new complex called Grand LA designed by star architect Frank Gehry, this ultra-luxe Conrad will be surrounded by shops, restaurants and more.
The hotel, which is currently taking reservations, will boast 305 rooms, including some with views of the iconic Walt Disney Concert Hall, a 16,000-square-foot rooftop with a private pool deck, an elevated indoor and outdoor lobby, a spa, restaurants and bars and even an outdoor public plaza that will host live music events all year long.
How to book: Cash rates for the Conrad Los Angeles start at $457 per night. Award nights can be found starting at 90,000 Hilton Honors points.
Four Seasons Minneapolis
This June, visitors to Minneapolis will be able to get sky-high, unobstructed views of the Mississippi River when the Four Seasons opens its doors to travelers. With 222 guest rooms and suites, this luxury property will have a "one-of-a-kind pool plaza" on the fourth floor that will feature year-round events and concerts.
Celebrated local chef Gavin Kaysen will oversee a Mediterranean-style restaurant while a terrace restaurant by the pool will serve up Italian food from chef Martín Morelli.
How to book: Cash rates start at $525 per night.
The Ritz-Carlton New York, NoMad
There's no shortage of luxury hotels in New York City, but that's not stopping hotel brands like Marriott from doubling down on expanding their luxury collections in the city.
While the city's original Ritz-Carlton towers over Central Park, the upcoming NoMad location is closer to Madison Square Park, the Empire State Building and the heart of the Big Apple.
Though it's a new Ritz-Carlton, you can still expect the same classic luxuries such as nightly turndown service, feather beds with goose-down duvets and soaking tubs offering views of the downtown skyline or the Empire State Building. The hotel also has a 6,800-square-foot spa and two restaurants from chef José Andrés.
How to book: With an anticipated late spring opening, the hotel is currently taking reservations for stays in July. You can expect to pay top dollar if you're booking with cash and the high end of the points spectrum if booking an award night.
The Chatwal Lodge in Bethel, New York
About 90 minutes north of New York City, rustic elegance is being redefined in the Catskill Mountains thanks to Chatwal Lodge, the upstate sister property of Manhattan's The Chatwal, New York.
Opening at the end of April, this 11-room lodge is set on more than 100 acres and will be a new way to experience the brand complete with fly fishing, horseback riding and seasonal activities such as waterskiing in the summer and cross-country skiing in the winter.
Travelers can expect an all-inclusive experience, with an "American rustic" culinary program led by chef Jesse Kloskey, a Wisconsin native who has worked at Michelin-starred restaurants in Napa Valley, California.
How to book: Cash rates start at $1,200 a night for two guests and include three meals per day, beverages (top-shelf wines, liquors and Champagnes) and outdoor activities.
The Standard, Bangkok
I've long been a fan of the Standard brand, which has sleek hotels that truly embody a sense of place and purpose in popular locations around the world. But the brand's highly anticipated Bangkok location is really set to impress.
Opening in the 78-story King Power Manhanakhon building, one of the tallest in the country, this new hotel will tower over the rest — literally — and be home to Cantonese restaurant Mott 32, a whimsical tea parlor and an outdoor pool and deck with wild, sky-high views of one of the world's megametropolises.
How to book: Cash rates at The Standard, Bangkok start around $150 per night. The Standard doesn't have a loyalty program (at least not yet), but that doesn't mean you can't still make your points work for you. This hotel might be a great place to cash in American Express Membership Rewards points earned with The Platinum Card® from American Express.
Ace Hotel Sydney
While the COVID-19 pandemic forced Australia to shut its doors for many, many months, it's finally reopened and welcomed tourists back with open arms.
During the shutdown, exciting new hotel projects continued to move forward all over the continent, including 10 that we're particularly excited about. One of those is the Ace Hotel Sydney, created in partnership with Atelier Ace and Melbourne's Flack Studio. Located in Surry Hills in a former brick factory, this 264-room Ace will open in May with a rooftop restaurant and bar; a ground-floor restaurant, bar and cafe; and some of the trendiest hotel rooms south of the equator.
How to book: Cash rates can be found starting at $234 for a small (queen-size) room.
W Algarve in Portugal
Though there are plenty of incredible hotels and resorts dotting Portugal, we've been keeping an eye on the W Algarve for a while now, which will bring playful luxury to the southernmost point of the country, known for its charming fishing villages and stunning rock formations.
Set to open in May, this W resort will bring the brand's signature over-the-top style to the region, along with 134 rooms, all with large balconies, a rooftop terrace, a pool, a spa and a total of six bars and restaurants, including Paper Moon, a popular Italian restaurant with locations around the globe. This W is sure to set a new standard for one of the most beautiful parts of Portugal.
How to book: This Category 7 hotel will cost you between 50,000 and 70,000 Marriott Bonvoy points per night.

Alila Kothaifaru Maldives
Hyatt loyalists and fans of beautiful island resorts will all be happy to hear that Alila Kothaifaru Maldives, the long-awaited resort on the Raa Atoll that's had a few setbacks — again, the world is wild right now — is partially opening starting April 9.
The initial soft opening will be limited to a handful of restaurants and beach villas but at rates as low as $350 a night — a steal for the Maldives. Guests can also hit up the spa for select treatments, drop the kiddos off at the kids club, tackle different water sports or even take an excursion to see bioluminescent plankton. Once the property fully opens later in the year, guests will find overwater villas, an overwater yakitori bar and more.
How to book: Cash rates during the soft opening start at $350 and increase through May and the rest of the summer. Once fully open, expect cash rates exceeding $800 a night. At this World of Hyatt Category 7 resort, award nights for a beach villa will cost between 25,000 and 35,000 points and suite upgrades cannot be used.
