King Soopers/Kroger Company Artwork
Request For Qualifications
The Boulder County Arts Alliance, in partnership with King Soopers, a division of the Kroger Company, will commission a professional artist to create indoor artwork for the Table Mesa King Soopers grocery store located at 3600 Table Mesa Dr. In Boulder.
The artwork will be prominently displayed on a wall inside the store as part of the Kroger Company’s commitment to involving artists in beautifying new stores in Colorado and throughout the nation. The artwork will be expected to celebrate the spirit of the community and the unique identity of the neighborhood and its surroundings.
The artwork will be mounted on panels of durable material that can be attached to the wall. The wall space for the artwork is to be 24 feet wide by 8 feet high.
Eligibility
This opportunity is open to professional artists in the Boulder County area with the ability to produce exemplary large-scale art.
To Apply
Interested artists must submit the following documents and supporting materials via this online form (NO EMAIL, MAILED OR HARDCOPY SUBMISSIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED).
- A current resume, in pdf, text or MS Word format.
- Six (6) images documenting previously completed works that demonstrate the ability to design, create and install large-scale art. Each image must be no larger than 3 MB.
- An annotated information sheet with the title, date, and brief description of each image.
Semi-Finalist Proposal Award
Up to three artists from the applicant pool will be selected to prepare a design/drawing of the proposed artwork. They will be paid $300 for their proposals.
Project Budget
One artist will be awarded a commission of $10,000. This amount includes all artist fees and the cost of the design, including fabrication and installation on said panels, and will include transportation and insurance costs to deliver said artwork to the Table Mesa King Soopers grocery store located at 3600 Table Mesa Dr. in Boulder, by December 1, 2021. The general on-site contractor of the Table Mesa King Soopers grocery store, with the guidance of the artist, will perform the installation of said artwork.
Rights in the Work
Subject to the terms and conditions of a Work-For-Hire Agreement entered into between Kroger and Artist (a draft copy of which is attached herein), Kroger will own the Artwork and any Work Product and all Intellectual Property Rights therein.The artist will be allowed to use the artwork for their own portfolio or website.
