The Goal of the Conference

The Communities Collaborative Brain Development Conference is an educational conference dedicated to service providers, teachers, professionals, and parents. The conference’s goals are to bring together individuals, programs, and schools that work with children ages birth through school-age. We are dedicated to sharing high quality up to date information and provide useful strategies to better serve children and families in our communities.

Pre Conference

Tuesday, August 13th, 2024

The Pre Conference will focus on Early Childhood and Child Care Providers the first night and will kick off with great learning opportunities in classroom experiences and Ojibwe in the classroom along with an ice cream social.  

Day 1 

Wednesday, August 14th, 2024

A day filled with engaging and informative key note presentations and breakout sessions all day. Geared to all teachers, providers, and practitioners who work with young children and families.  

Day 2 

Thursday, August 15th, 2024

The final day also geared to all teachers, provides, and practitioners who work with young children and families.  additional key note presentations and breakout sessions to leave you feeling rejuvenated and ready to apply in your setting. 

The Key Note Speakers

Ron Shuali 

M. Ed. 

Ron Shuali, M.Ed. has been called the “Messiah of the Mind”, the “Behavior Master” and the “Bad Boy of Early Childhood. His laughter filled keynotes, workshops and assemblies are always full of eye-opening experiences as audiences have multiple “Ah-HA!” moments. He is the creator of the internationally acclaimed Yogarate and Behavior Mastery systems. Ron holds a Master’s of Education specializing in Early Childhood, is a best-selling author, motivational speaker, and most importantly…He is funny. His background of martial arts, yoga, reiki, professional wrestling and improv creates hilarious and educational experiences focusing on mindfulness and connecting with fellow humans and their inner-child.

Albert M. Pooley

Founder and President of the Native American Fatherhood and Families Association. Albert M. Pooley was born to the Hopi and Navajo Native American cultures.
He grew up close to both cultures on the reservation where the love of a father taught him outstanding life lessons.

He holds a Masters of Social Work (MSW) and Masters of  Public Administration (MPA).

Mr. Pooley has extensive experience as a marriage and family counselor.
He appreciates the role of being a father and he finds joy in teaching
principles that are relevant to his Native American culture.

Dr. J. 

(Dr. Caitlin Johnson Ph.D.)


Dr. Caitlin Johnson (Dr. J.) is an Assistant Professor of Educational Leadership at Minnesota State University Moorhead (MSUM). She is an enrolled member of the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Indians and grew up on her home reservation. She graduated with her Ph. D in Adult & Community Education from North Dakota State University in May 2021. Although Dr. J. graduated a NDSU Bison, she is now a proud MSUM Dragon.

Mitch Factor

Mitch Factor has been a lead teacher in Tribal Head Start for over 30 years. Mitch now presents to Tribal Head Start Staff and Tribal Employees across the United States, Alaska and Canada. Mitch specializes in wellness, parent and family involvement, male involvement, and staff working as a collective unit to benefit the children and families. Mitch presents at conferences, national conferences and Tribal events. Mitch Factor is also a humorist and enjoys laughing and having fun while presenting.
