The Maine Retirement Savings Board was created by the Maine Legislature in An Act to Promote Individual Retirement Savings through a Public-Private Partnership, PL 2021, Chapter 356 in recognition of the benefits to both the State and residents of the State in establishing retirement savings accounts.  The Board is charged with establishing a public-private retirement savings program for employees who do not otherwise have access to a retirement savings program through their employer.

The law creates the 9 member Maine Retirement Savings Board composed of 8 members appointed by the Governor and the State Treasurer who serves ex officio.

The Board is currently engaged in the process of establishing the Program.  More details will be available when that process is complete.

For more information, you may contact the Program by emailing: info@mainesaves.org.

The Mission of the Board is to empower workers to establish and increase retirement savings through an automatic, low-cost, trusted retirement plan benefitting Maine workers, employers and taxpayers.

LD 1082 has been introduced.  It will make amendments to the Program Start Date and Enforcement Dates.
