Passport Program

The North Dakota Airport Passport Program promotes safety and education by encouraging recreational flight to all of North Dakota’s public-use airports. It also supports general aviation airports, area businesses and tourism. It is a collaborative program of the North Dakota Aeronautics Commission and Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association.

How to participate

Request a physical book using the link below.  When you have obtained the proper number of check-ins at airports, aviation museums, and safety seminars, the North Dakota Aeronautics Commission will award your prizes at the Fly-ND conference or we can ship your prizes to you.

There is no deadline for completing the North Dakota Airport Passport Program as long as the program remains in operation. Awards and recognition will be given at the annual Fly-ND Conference (formerly known as UMAS).

Each publicly-owned airport in North Dakota, as well as both air museums, will have a stamp that pilots use to stamp the appropriate box inside their physical passport book. Once an award level is reached, the pilot can either mail, or present, their passport book to the North Dakota Aeronautics Commission office in Bismarck, North Dakota. Awards and recognition will be given at the annual Fly-ND Conference (formerly known as UMAS).

1. Once I complete the Bronze level, can I continue using my same passport for the Silver or Gold levels?

Yes. Once a passport book has been submitted for review, it is returned to its owner and can be used to advance to the next level of the program.

2. Where at the airport do I find the stamp?

At most of North Dakota’s airports, the stamp can be found in the Arrival and Departure Building next to the visitors log. The could also be located in the “box on post” near the hangar or the spray office.

3. I visited a North Dakota Airport and was not able to stamp my passport (no stamp, no passports). What do I do now?

If you are unable to get a stamp at a North Dakota airport, take a photo of your stop if you are able. Contact the North Dakota Aeronautics Commission at (701) 328-9650, email us at ndaero@nd.gov, or stop in. We will need a few details of your visit to the airport, such as time and date, and reason for no stamp and we can stamp it for you. Be sure to let our office know if there is an issue with being able to receive a stamp so that we can replace the stamp.

4. Who is eligible?

Any FAA licensed pilot, from any state, may participate. Pilots may earn three different levels of recognition by flying into airports, attending safety seminars and visiting North Dakota’s Aviation Museums.
