Program Description

Do you need to change your address because of a disaster? Do you get medical treatment or a benefit payment from the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA)?

If so, you may be able to update your address or direct deposit information through the VA.gov website. Or VA may be able to make the change over the phone or help you find the address where you can mail a change request.

General Program Requirements

To qualify, you must meet one of the conditions below:

  • Currently be enrolled in the VA medical system and get VA medical treatment or assistance.
  • Get a benefit payment from VA.

Application Process

You have options for changing your address at VA.
  1. Call VA at 1-877-222-VETS (8387). A representative can help validate and, if necessary, update your address.
  2. Change your address on VA.gov. You can sign in to view and update your mailing and home addresses. By using this option, you won’t need to call or visit your VA Medical Center.
  3. Call your local medical center. Someone may be able to help you over the phone or you can check during your next visit. You can use a kiosk or check with a staff member, such as the registration desk, scheduling, or a pharmacist.
When you change the contact information in your VA.gov profile, it also updates across the following VA benefits and services:
  • VA health care (including prescriptions, appointment reminders, lab and test results, and communications from your VA medical center)
  • Disability compensation
  • Pension benefits
  • Claims and appeals
  • Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment (VR&E)

If you use any of the VA benefits or services listed below, you’ll need to contact each department directly to change your information.
