Description

Grantmaking Strategy:
The Forman Family Fund will provide support for programs during school or out-of-school time that provide training, education and exposure the visual arts of photography, architectural drawing, and architecture; or, exposure to the written arts of writing in any format. Programs will support young people ages 11-18, in the five-county region.

Program requirements:
• Be open to all young people ages 11 to 18;
• Be curriculum-based;
• Be offered for a minimum of one semester, with preference being given for year-long programs;
• Have been operating for at least two years with a proven track record;
• Be focused on written arts or in the specific visual arts of photography, architecture, or architectural drawing.

Allowable Expenses:
• Participants' transportation
• Meals
• Field trips
• Program staff time
• Materials and supplies
• Other direct program expenses
• Indirect expenses up to 15% of total grant amount 

Application Process:
Applicants are asked to complete the application form by August 1, 2022.

Recipients will be selected based on the criteria with approximately 50% going to in-school and 50% going to out-of-school programs.

The Fund will distribute up to 10 grants per year. The maximum grant amount will be $40,000. Grant awards may not be more than 10% of the applicant's operating budget and must be used for expenses not yet incurred.

Any school or organization receiving a grant may be eligible to receive support for consecutive years especially where more than one year of support will allow young people to further advance in either the visual or written arts as defined by grant guidelines. Such additional support is conditional on both a report for the prior grant being received and a new application submitted.

Organizations that apply for a second year of funding should submit a progress report with the application. Until such report is submitted no school, organization or program is eligible for additional Forman Family Fund Grants.

Requirements

Eligibility:
Applicants to the Forman Family Fund will fit under the following criteria for eligibility:
• The organization is located in and/or serves constituents within the five-county Philadelphia region.
• The organization has been certified as tax exempt under section 501(c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code; or is collaborating with an experienced fiscal sponsor with a 501(c) (3) IRS exemption;
• The organization is not a private foundation;
• If the organization is a religious institution, it may only apply for nonsectarian activities;
• The organization has adopted a nondiscrimination policy including race, color, religion, national origin, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, disability, or any other legally protected characteristics.

Applications are due on Monday, August 1, 2022, 11:59 pm. As a reminder, complete applications should include the following:
• IRS 501c3 Letter
• Form 990
• List of Board of Directors
• Board-approved nondiscrimination policy
• Charitable Certificate from the Bureau of Charitable Organizations (if required)
• Fiscal Sponsor Memorandum of Understanding (if applicable)
• Organization Budget (Income and Expenses)
• Project/Program Budget (Income and Expenses) Please indicate how a Forman Family Fund Grant would be allocated
• Outline of program curriculum
• Upload up to five representative images from participating students work
• Progress Report on previous year's grant (if applicable)
