Meet your proposal advocates this spring!
This March and April, proposal advocates will be hosting an event in their neighborhood to meet and discuss with community members about how the ideas that were submitted by the public last year were rated and prioritized. This an opportunity for community members to learn about these identified community ideas, next steps in turning these ideas into proposals for community vote, and most importantly, provide feedback to the proposal advocates of the prioritized ideas. We look forward to seeing you at an upcoming spring event in your neighborhood.
- East Renton & Fairwood: Wednesday, March 20, 2024, from 6-7PM at Fairwood Library (17009 140th Ave. SE, Renton, WA 98058)
- Skyway: Wednesday, April 17, 2024, from 6-7PM at Skyway Library (12601 76th Ave. S., Seattle, WA 98178)
- East Federal Way: Monday, April 22, 2024, from 4:30-5:30PM at Federal Way Senior Center (4016 S 352nd St, Auburn, WA 98001)
- White Center: Tuesday, April 30, 2024, from 6-7PM at White Center Library (1409 SW 107th St., Seattle, WA 98146)
Participatory Budgeting is currently in the Proposal Development phase. Community members from East Federal Way, East Renton, Fairwood, Skyway/West Hill and White Center/North HIghline are currently serving as proposal advocates to turn ideas that were submitted by the public last year into proposals. In January 2024, we held a proposal development community event at each neighborhood library where the public was invited to see the submitted ideas and learn how these ideas can become proposals to be voted on by YOU this summer!

King County Local Services is now in its second participatory budgeting cycle in the urban unincorporated areas of East Federal Way, East Renton, Fairwood, Skyway/West Hill, and White Center/North Highline. And we need your help!
There are various opportunities for community members to support your local participatory budgeting process. Please read the position descriptions below:
- Ambassador – Support outreach and community engagement to help spread awareness about the participatory budgeting process, activities, and events in the community. ($25/hour for 2-3 hours/week)
- Proposal Advocate – Work during the Proposal Development phase to research, evaluate, and prioritize the project ideas submitted by community members during the Idea Collection phase. Using research, community assessments, and consultation with King County staff members about project feasibility and cost, develop final project proposals for the participatory budgeting ballot. ($30/hour for 3-4 hours/week)
- Event Volunteer – Staff participatory budgeting community events for two hours per event. (No compensation, receives a free volunteer t-shirt)
Volunteer Requirements: Must live, work, go to school, worship (attend church, mosque, etc.), and/or demonstrate a strong connection to the community.
