“No Health Without Mental Health” – Resources to Support Mental Health & Well-Being in Our Community

If your mental health has taken a hit recently, you aren’t alone. The COVID-19 pandemic has had profound impacts on mental health and emotional well-being. Overall, more adults in our region have reported feeling anxious or depressed since the start of the pandemic. Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) communities in King County also face ongoing additional threats to their safety, health, and emotional well-being because of racism and inequities.

Mental health is essential to everyone’s overall health and well-being. Mental health conditions, such as anxiety or depression, are real, common, and treatable.

Throughout Mental Health Awareness Month, King County Department of Community and Human Services (DCHS) and Public Health—Seattle & King County are communicating the importance of mental health to overall health.

There are practical tools and resources to support emotional health and well-being—including resources by and for BIPOC communities. Taking action to check in with yourself and your community can help to change attitudes and misunderstandings around mental health, making it easier for everyone to access tools and resources to thrive.
