The location was slated to open on Friday, according to the company's website, so it is not clear if the ribbon-cutting was part of a soft opening or a one-time invite-only event.

Topgolf's press office did not respond to an inquiry from Patch by deadline.

Nonetheless Town of Brookhaven officials had a tour of the facility and some got a chance to test out their swings, according to some Facebook posts.

Councilman Kevin LaValle, whose district includes the facility wrote, "The wait is finally over! Topgolf is open!,” and described the facility as "an internationally-renowned golf and entertainment venue that has locations all around the world."

"Today, we welcome them to their first location in New York State," he wrote, noting the company invested over $40 million to develop the site and will have over 600 employees.

"Over 50% of attendees to Topgolf around the world are first-time golfers," LaValle wrote. "They will provide residents with a new recreational entertainment facility for families and friends of all ages to enjoy."

Councilman Michael Loguercio wrote that the town board was" delighted to welcome" Topgolf to the Brookhaven.

“Besides being an amazing recreational destination, it will also bring over 700 jobs to our area,” he added.

He urged Facebook followers to visit the location and “have some great food and a wonderful time.”

Topgolf’s menu offers a variety of items, ranging from breakfast, which is served until 2 p.m., to burgers, flatbread pizzas, and salads, to apps like warm pretzel bites and guac and chips. There is also a children’s menu featuring chicken bites, burgers, and grilled cheeses. The dessert menu features injectable donut holes with three flavors, including chocolate, raspberry, and Bavarian Creme. One dollar from each donut order will be donated to the Make A Wish Foundation.

Others who attended the event include Councilwoman Jane Bonner, Deputy Supervisor Dan Panico, councilmen Jonathan Kornreich and Neil Foley, and Highways Superintendent Dan Losquadro.
