Please note: Applications for the Redmond Winterization Reimbursement Grant Program are no longer being accepted.

The City of Redmond, WA has allocated an additional $100,000 of CARES Act and King County funding for a new Winterization Reimbursement Grant Program. This program aims to support the outdoor operations and winterization efforts of City of Redmond businesses and non-profit organizations.

Reimbursement grant awards of up to $7,500 per business or non-profit will be available. Please note that these funds are limited. Applicants to this program may or may not receive a grant – application submittal does not guarantee award. Awards will be made based on qualified rolling basis until funds are exhausted.

Examples of outdoor operations and winterization purchases that will be considered for reimbursement include but are not limited to:

  • Architectural or design fees
  • Construction materials and contractor fees
  • Tents
  • Heaters and/or heating equipment or expenses related to heating
  • Outdoor furniture
  • Outdoor lighting and expenses related to installation
  • Safety measures/equipment
  • Cold-weather gear for staff or patrons
  • Marketing expenses for advertising of outdoor opportunities
  • Other expenses directly related to outdoor/winterization efforts

Small Business Grant Details

Grant Application Window and Process:

Timeline:

  • Applications are due December 1st for COVID-19 related winterization/outdoor expenditures made between March 15, 2020 and November 30, 2020.
  • Grants will be processed and distributed before the end of December 2020.

 

Eligibility to Apply:

Businesses and Non-Profits:

  • Must have an active City of Redmond Business License and be in good standing with the City of Redmond and the State of Washington.
  • Must have been in operation as of March 1, 2019.
  • Must have a physical location within the city limits of Redmond.
  • Can be for profit or non-profit organizations.
  • Must be able to demonstrate hardship due to COVID-19, such as loss in revenue or government requirement to reduce capacity.
  • Only one application per business/organization will be considered.
  • Must be able to explain and show justification of how funding is being used to reimburse for purchases to provide outdoor operations and winterization.
  • Must provide winterization project invoices and/or receipts.
  • Must provide photographs, where applicable or requested.
  • Business/organization must meet CARES Act qualifications.
  • Awardees of Phase 1 of the Redmond Small Business Resiliency Grant are eligible to apply for this second grant opportunity.
  • Winterization grant awards cannot be used to pay for items paid for by previous CARES Act grant awards.
  • Priority will be given to locally-owned (not chain) businesses with less than three locations in Washington State.

 

Additional Details on Reporting Requirements:

  • Businesses/organizations are required to submit documentation (receipts/invoices/photographic evidence) for all direct and indirect winterization costs that are requested for reimbursement. Quotes will not be considered sufficient as proof of purchase.
  • All reimbursable winterization expenses must be made by November 30, 2020.
  • Brief quarterly reports for one subsequent year will be requested and required.

When is the deadline:

The application period will open Tuesday, November 17, 2020.  The grant application deadline is December 1, 2020 at midnight.

What size are the awards?

Each organization selected to receive financial support may receive a grant of up to $7,500 and the organization will also receive access to OneRedmond and SBDC business advising services.

What types of businesses are eligible for support?

All businesses and non-profits located in the City of Redmond are eligible for support.

When do I need to know about submitting receipts for reimbursements?

All reimbursable winterization expenses must be complete by November 30, 2020. All winterization/outdoor expenditures must be made between March 15, 2020 and November 30, 2020.

How will awards be prioritized and selected?

Due to the accelerated timeline, eligible applicants will be awarded grants on a first-come, first-served priority.

Will the requirement to be in good standing with the City of Redmond impact businesses having challenges with paying their utility bills?

If the company entered into a utility payment plan, it will still qualify under good standing.
