Walnut Creek Treatment Wetland Restoration

Franklin County | Walnut Creek Watershed | Inland Central Ohio

The Walnut Creek Treatment Wetland Restoration Project will add a 15-acre treatment train, or a series of wetlands, to the frequently flooded land near Walnut Creek. The project will receive, treat, and temporarily retain water from within the stream. The wetland will filter nutrients while also creating a functioning riparian ecosystem that will provide habitat for various amphibian, insect, and aquatic species. This new wetland treatment system will be viewable from a new walking trail that connect visitors to Walnut Woods Metro Park.

Project Size: 17 Acres

Partner: Columbus and Franklin County Metro Parks
