SAN ANTONIO - We're following the latest on the crisis at the border, Texas Governor Greg Abbott tells us how his new executive order is playing out.

Last week Abbott authorized law enforcement around the state to apprehend and transport migrants to the U.S./ Mexico border.

Here is what he had to say when we asked him about his decision.

"Since immigration law is traditionally overseen by the federal government, I mean, this is fairly unprecedented. So what do you say to critics who believe that you're overreaching state authority?" Simone asked.

"I make sure that legally, we're doing everything we can to confine ourselves to the law, and under the law, in the people come across the border illegally between the ports of entry, they're in violation of federal law, and state officials are authorized to make arrests of those people who come across the border and return them to the border, among other things," Abbott responded.

Other hot topics we talked to the governor about, were power grid concerns in the state and the latest on the Uvalde school shooting investigation.
