Multiple northwest Ohio organizations observed Tuesday as International Overdose Awareness Day.

Artists and community members in Toledo made chalk art and messages at Toledo's Glass City Metropark.

The "Chalk the Walk" event also offered Narcan distribution, opioid overdose prevention training and guided meditation provided by the Lucas County Opiate Coalition and Northwest Ohio Syringe Services.

Meanwhile, behavioral health service A Renewed Mind honored victims with similar chalk messages and by writing names on purple flags accompanied by hopeful sentiments.

Those flags were placed outside A Renewed Mind's Toledo location on Adams Street.
