The National Partnership for Child Safety (NPCS) is a quality improvement collaborative comprised of county, state and tribal child and family serving agencies whose mission is to improve child safety and prevent child maltreatment and fatalities by strengthening families and promoting innovations in child protection.
Our agency is proud to be a founding partner of the National Partnership for Child Safety (NPCS) collaborative. By jointly building and sharing a knowledge base of evidence-based practices across jurisdictions, NPCS is at the forefront of improving child safety and child protection system outcomes overall.
– Chip Spinning
Executive Director, Franklin County Children's Services, Ohio
NPCS Co-Chair
The NPCS aligns with our department’s core values and strategic direction. It has allowed us to share our successes, challenges and lessons learned, and to hear from other jurisdictions. What we’re learning is that our system is not that different from others and that we all face similar difficulties.
– Roxanna Flores-Aguilar
Division Chief, Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS),
Los Angeles County
While a child fatality is tragic and rare, the factors that led to the death may not be unique. With a safety science approach, we can create a culture of learning that helps us better understand how and why decisions are made and offer recommendations. This will build a stronger system focused on supporting families.
– Rebecca Jones Gaston
Child Welfare Director, Oregon Department of Human Services, Child Welfare Division
Implementing a standardized critical incident review process grounded in safety science is a vital step toward reimagining child welfare systems as child and family well-being systems that put child safety first.
– Jody Hill-Lilly
Deputy Commissioner, Connecticut Department of Children and Families
NPCS Co-Chair
