Community to distribute free naloxone for Overdose Awareness Day

In recognition of International Overdose Awareness Day on Wednesday, the Columbus and Franklin County Addiction Plan is holding several pop-up Narcan locations throughout the city.

Residents can get free naloxone and fentanyl test strips to help prevent overdose deaths at the following locations on Wednesday:

  • Franklin County Court Complex, 375 South High Street: 8 a.m.-2 p.m.
  • Southeast Healthcare, 16 West Long Street: 9 a.m -4 p.m.
  • Mt. Vernon Plaza, 1035 Atcheson Street: 10 a.m.-6 p.m.
  • Stonewall Columbus, 1160 North High Street: 10 a.m.- 6p.m.
  • Safe Point, 1267 West Broad Street: 4 p.m.-8 p.m.
  • Westgate Park, 455 South Westgate Avenue: 2:30 p.m.-5:30 p.m.

A memorial service will be held at Columbus Public Health from 4 to 6 p.m. Over 6,000 pinwheels will be located on the front lawn to recognize the impact of overdoses in the community.

5,703 purple pinwheels represent non-fatal overdoses among Franklin County residents and 788 white pinwheels represent fatal overdoses among residents in 2021. Free Narcan and fentanyl test strips will also be available.
