Serve Houston Program Design VISTA, OneStar

Interfaith Ministries (IM) of Greater Houston’s mission is to bring people of diverse faith traditions together for dialogue, collaboration, and service, as a demonstration of shared beliefs. IM has four core programs: Meals on Wheels/Animeals, Refugee Resettlement, Interfaith Relations and Community Partnerships (IRCP), and Volunteer Houston. Volunteer Houston (VH) is the premier connector of volunteers to nonprofits in the Greater Houston area, particularly during times of crisis like the COVID-19 pandemic. Due to the need for health-related outreach and services, especially in low income communities, VH proposes launching a pilot program called Serve Houston that will be a 10-month national service/AmeriCorps initiative for college students in the health professions. The Serve Houston VISTA will help design the program by: Objective # 1 Designing the Serve Houston program based on the program goals, time frame, budget and other high-level parameters provided. Objective #2 Preparing the program evaluation. Objective #3 Recruiting 15-30 (subject to change) applicants to the Serve Houston pilot program.
