Austin Youth Development Employment Readiness VISTA
 
 
 
The City of Austin AmeriCorps VISTA program works with City departments and local nonprofits to build capacity, in order to provide resources and services the Austin neighborhoods and communities that may otherwise be left behind by Austin's historic disparities and future growth. The AmeriCorps Members serving with the City of Austin AmeriCorps VISTA Program work in such diverse fields as education, health, waste reduction, and housing to cover the myriad ways poverty affects these neighborhoods and communities.

Member Duties : Develop a framework for adding a virtual component to the Austin Youth Development Program, which introduces and improves soft skill training for youth 14-22 who are at high risk of truancy or dropping out of school. Create an updated version of the current textbook curriculum on a chosen electronic media. This new curriculum should be able to be used in the classroom or virtually. Develop a plan to implement the new virtual curriculum. Create staff training to teach program leaders how to effectively use the new curriculum and virtual components, and determine a timeline to implement the new curriculum. Create a social media presence for the AYD program with the intent to promote and supplement the employment readiness virtual curriculum.
