What the exhibit is all about

The Montgomery Art Guild, the Montgomery Cultural Arts Center (formerly the Armory Learning Arts Center), and the city of Montgomery are coming together to invite all artists to participate in this exhibition. You don’t need to be an accomplished professional artist (but it’s OK if you are); you don’t need to be a member of the Montgomery Art Guild. There is no entry fee. You do need to be someone who would like to celebrate the contributions that African Americans have made to culture and the community.

Examples of those contributions are many and varied. They include art, music, literature, science, cinema, religion, politics, education, and much more. Your artwork can embrace any part of these contributions. Sometimes those contributions are distinct from mainstream American culture and community. Other times they are woven into the fabric of American culture and community. It’s up to you to explore this idea and create artwork that expresses your vision.
