MLTI Student Conference 2021: Innovating Maine's future together in a virtual space!

Why MLTI is Special

Why MLTI is Special

Maine students and teachers enjoy unprecedented access to technology thanks to the Maine Learning Technology Initiative (MLTI).

Started in 2002, the program has evolved but the goal remains the same: to provide State support for access to technology-enhanced educational experiences for all students.

Why MLTI is Virtual in 2021

The annual MLTI Student Conference stands as the program’s marquee event. COVID19 disruptions caused Maine DOE to initially cancel the 2020 MLTI Student Conference. However, after considering the needs of Maine students during school closure, Maine DOE and CATES re-thought the conference strategy and shifted it to a virtual event, which proved to be a resounding success. With COVID19 restrictions still in place, MLTI goes virtual again in 2021—but bigger and better!

Innovative Challenges

Since March 2020, COVID19 has forced Maine students and educators to deal with unprecedented challenges, which have led to problems related not only to learning but also related to mental health, equity in education, collaborating with peers, and the ways in which people learn.

After an entire year of online—or at best hybrid—schooling, Maine students and educators must completely rethink education and how to learn from home. Reinventing Remote Learning starts NOW...with YOU.
