MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma or equivalent and three (3) years of experience in operating all types of heavy equipment required; or any combination of experience and training which enables one to perform the essential job functions.  Must possess and maintain a valid Class "B" Tennessee (or equivalent out-of-state) Commercial Driver License if assigned to Public Works and must comply with Federal Department of Transportation (DOT) Alcohol and Drug testing rules as a condition of continued employment.  Must possess and maintain a valid Class "A" Tennessee (or equivalent out-of-state) Commercial Driver License if assigned to General Services and must comply with Federal Department of Transportation (DOT) Alcohol and Drug testing rules as a condition of continued employment.  May be required to complete a battery of tests as deemed appropriate by Human Resources to evaluate competencies in operating heavy equipment such as front-end loader, back-hoe loader, track-hoe excavator, and bulldozer (crawler tractor).

The City Charter requires that City Employees must establish residence within Shelby County withing six (6) months from the date of employment.  Proof of residence will be required at the time of hire.

The City Charter requires that City Employees, with the exception of "first responders", must establish residence within Shelby County within six (6) months from their date of employment.
