CMS Issues Guidance on New Medicaid Home Benefit for Children

The Department of Health and Human Services, through the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, has published guidance on a new Medicaid health home benefit to help state programs provide children with medically complex conditions with person-centered care management, care coordination, and patient and family support, according to a Monday news release.

Beginning Oct. 1, states can offer new health home services, including full-range access to pediatric specialty and subspecialty medical services, according to the department.

The guidance covers information for states like payment methodologies, provider standards, provider and state reporting, state monitoring, and state assurance requirements, HHS said.
