Overview
The Hartford City Community app is an abridged version of the Hartford website to make city resources centralized and accessible to Hartford residents. The app will also have a "report an issue" feature where residents can report things that they want to be improved in their city, allowing them to have a larger voice in the community. Before creating this app, I was unaware that the city of Hartford even had an app despite being a lifelong resident; This was also the case for many of my peers and family members. As a result, we have missed out on the opportunities and resources that the city has to offer, as well as ways to appreciate and explore our own city. However, this app allows all of the resources and opportunities in Hartford to be within reach and raise awareness among Hartford citizens, thus creating a new appreciation for Hartford and allowing citizens to get the help and support that they need. Additionally, the "report a problem" feature will increase civic engagement among Hartford citizens and amplify their voices in decisions made by politicians, making them feel heard when they have felt otherwise in the past.
