Night for Notables, PeppiCatStudio Exhibit at the Library of Michigan, 2022 Michigan Notable Books Author Tour, & Spring Ahead Forever

Night for Notables

After two years of alternative format honors, the Michigan Notable Book program's Night for Notables happened live and in-person again Saturday, April 30, 2022. Over 30 authors from the 2020, 2021, and 2022 Michigan Notable Books lists were on hand to be honored for their contributions to Michigan's literary heritage. The Forum was packed for the awards presentation by State Librarian Randy Riley, and the keynote address provide by singer/songwriter and activist Wayne Kramer of Detroit's MC5.

Following the awards ceremony and keynote address in the Forum, the Afterglow continued in the Library of Michigan's Atrium. The hum and excitement of authors and attendees throughout the Atrium finalized an event that was enjoyable for all.

Thank you to all of the 2020, 2021, and 2022 Michigan Notable Books authors as well as to everyone who made Night for Notables possible. Visit the Library of Michigan's Facebook page to find a collection of photos taken during the event.

We can't wait to celebrate the 2023 Michigan Notable Books next year! The Library of Michigan is actively taking submissions for the 2023 list. Find more information by going to www.Michigan.gov/NotableBooks.

Spring Ahead Forever?

Time keeps on slipping into the future in the most recent issue of Timely Topics, where Librarians Bernadette Bartlett and Diane Donham explore the history of, issues related to, legislative regulation of, and the current debate over Daylight Saving Time.  As usual, they provide a carefully selected bibliography of sources related to the topic.  And, for the first time ever, there is a playlist of time-sensitive songs for those of us asking the question "Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is?"
