April is National Poetry Month

Launched by the Academy of American Poets in April 1996, National Poetry Month reminds the public that poets have an integral role to play in our culture and that poetry matters. Over the years, it has become the largest literary celebration in the world.

As part of National Poetry Month, this week's Special Collections Update highlights a selection of award-winning poetry from past Michigan Notable Books selections. This sample of offers only a tiny taste of the wide array of current and historic Michigan poetry at the Library of Michigan.
