Mindy Babarskis Selected as Michigan Freedom Trail Commission Chair
Michigan Collection Librarian, Mindy Babarskis, joined the Michigan Freedom Trail Commission last December and has recently been selected as Commission Chair. The Michigan Freedom Trail Commission, established in 1998, works to preserve, protect, and promote the rich legacy of the Underground Railroad and the antislavery movement in Michigan. Recent programs include the 2022 Heritage Gathering - Underground Railroad Descendants: Sharing the Stories, consisting of a series of virtual sessions featuring conversations with descendants of freedom seekers in Michigan as well as a keystone Heritage Gathering Conference.
