Overview

Garden Homes Park is an 11 acre neighborhood park located in the northwest corner of the city, just east of N. Maple Road and south of M-14. View the Ann Arbor Parks and Nature Areas map for location context. The park is just over 11 acres in size and is nicely wooded with open lawn areas for various activities. A playground is on the north end of the park, next to rolling grass fields and close to paved paths that wind through wooded and wet nature areas. This playground features an accessible swing. The paths wind their way over 20,000 feet with two small asphalt plazas with lighting and benches, connecting to other parts of the neighborhood. A rain garden along Miller Avenue, farther south than the main park area, is part of the park as well.

Park Notices

Unless otherwise posted per City Council resolution, when a park is closed, no person shall remain in or enter it other than to quietly sit or walk.

Access and Parking

There is plentiful street parking in the neighborhood surrounding the park. Franklin Street has a long stretch of park frontage with street parking. There are many points of access to the park.

A walking path off of Fulmer connects the park and neighborhood to Wines Elementary School. A walking path off of Franklin Court N. connects the park area to Maple Road. The park is accessible on bicycle by riding on the surrounding neighborhood streets and by using Maple Road and Miller Avenue. Both Maple and Miller have bike lanes and sidewalks. There are no bike racks in the park.

Public Transportation

There are bus stops near the park on Maple Road and on Miller Avenue. There is a bus stop on Maple at a path entrance into the park. Visit TheRide for schedule and route details or check out the parks ride guide.

Garden Homes park was developed in 1974. A new play structure was added in 2007 after the city asked for input from the local community.
