City Carrier Assistant Brittany Buck was recently delivering mail in Hartford, MI, when she spotted two toddlers in harm’s way.
The girls, around 1 and 2 years old, were in the middle of a road, clothed only in soiled diapers.
Buck immediately called 911 and protected the children from traffic until emergency responders arrived to provide further assistance.
An investigation revealed that the toddlers had been left alone for 18 hours, including overnight, by their mother, who was arrested and charged with child abuse.
Child Protective Services placed the girls in the custody of family members.
