The Postal Service’s new Mystery Message stamps — designed to put customers’ sleuthing skills to the test — were dedicated July 14 at the International Spy Museum in Washington, DC.
While the colorful patterns on the stamps appear seemingly random, they were carefully placed to spell out a message that reads — spoiler alert — “More Than Meets the Eye!”
“As you add these stamps to your collection, or use them to send a message to your family and friends, we hope they will appeal to the puzzle-solver in all of us,” said Robert M. Duncan, a member of the USPS Board of Governors who spoke at the ceremony.
Other speakers were Tamara Christian, the museum’s president and chief operating officer; Rebecca Roberts, curator of programming for Planet Word, a museum of language; and an unnamed “international spy.”
The stamps are available at usps.com and at local Post Offices.
