Temple, Drexel Gets Funds To Recruit New Law Enforcement Officers
In total, the Philadelphia universities are getting nearly $200,000 in grant funding to help recruit new law enforcement officers.
PHILADELPHIA — Two universities in Philadelphia are getting funding boosts to help recruit more law enforcement.
The Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency announced 31 new law enforcement agencies that will get Law Enforcement Recruitment grant funding.
"Every Pennsylvanian deserves to feel safe in their communities, and making sure communities have enough police officers on the beat is a key component for public safety," Lt. Gov. Austin Davis, chair of Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency, said. "Through this funding law enforcement entities can fill gaps which will in turn improve safety in our communities."

Temple and Drexel universities are getting a cut of the funding.
Temple is getting 70,000 and Drexel $120,000.

The goal of this funding is to support Act 120 training and recruitment activities for law enforcement officers.
Act 120 is a mandatory training program for municipal police offers in Pennsylvania which is provided through the Municipal Police Officers’ Education and Training Commission.
