Civil Nuclear Credit Program Application Guidance for Award Cycle 2

On March 2, 2023, DOE released application guidance for Award Cycle 2 of the CNC Program. This guidance followed a request for public comment on draft guidance conducted from September 30 to November 4, 2022.

While Award Cycle 1 limited eligibility to owners or operators of nuclear power reactors that had announced intentions to retire within the four-year award period, Award Cycle 2 was open to owners or operators of nuclear reactors that are at risk of closure by the end of the four-year award period, including such reactors that ceased operations after November 15, 2021. This guidance was further revised on March 6, 2023. Applications for Award Cycle 2 closed on May 31, 2023.

Request for Public Comment on Draft Guidance for Award Cycle 2

On September 30, 2022, DOE released and requested feedback on draft Guidance for award cycle 2 of the Civil Nuclear Credit Program. The draft Guidance describes the timelines, deliverables, and supporting information needed from eligible owners or operators of nuclear power reactors that are projected to shut down due to economic circumstances within the next four years to submit certification applications to become certified, and instructions on formulating and submitting sealed bids to receive credit allocations. Request for feedback closed on November 4, 2022.
