AT A GLANCE: With legislative change on gun policy seemingly in a state of gridlock in Pennsylvania, Gov. Shapiro is touting a $100 million in new investment in several initiatives aimed directly at lowering the level of gun and other violent crime in Pennsylvania.
The new funds include: $37.5 million for community-based violence prevention programs; $37.5 million to ramp up prosecution efforts on crimes related to gun violence; $11.5 million for programs targeted at increasing after-school enrichment opportunities for students in crime-ridden areas; and $11 million to create in-fill parks and playgrounds and other community spaces in heavily-blighted neighborhoods.
