EPOC Seattle Summit 2024: Session Proposal Open Call
Environmental Professionals of Color (EPOC) Seattle provides a safe space for people of color working in the environmental and conservation field in the Seattle area to connect, share information, provide support, and discuss in depth the issues we care about.

This summit is intended to focus on reconnecting with new and returning EPOC community members by engage in trainings, workshops, activities and discourse around topics of cross-cultural solidarity and identity, for cultivating a more just and sustainable future. 2024 EPOC organizers feel it is important for us to curate a space where EPOC members feel safe and confident to take up space, can access creative workshops to explore their identity both in and outside of their work, connect with each other through relevant local and/or global environmental issues, and be empowered to work towards together to reimagine and build a more environmentally just future.

Additionally, based off the pre-interest survey, we are looking for the following high-level proposal topics:
  1. Community-building workshops
  2. Networking/Professional Development trainings
  3. Creative workshops/activities
Other general guidelines and considerations:
  • Workshops or sessions 1 hour max in length
  • Can support and engage varying group sizes
  • Center the themes mentioned in second paragraph
  • Expand past corporate/western frameworks and mindsets
  • Provide opportunities for participants to continue engaging past this event (e.g. materials to take home, practicing in real time various skills or behaviors, coordinating time to gather post event, etc.)
Facilitators will receive a $200 stipend, and EPOC may be able to support with the purchasing of materials for the workshop or for participants to take home. We are currently looking for 12 facilitated workshops, however after further planning we may need to expand or condense.

All proposals should be submitted by end of day March 22nd, and you should hear back from EPOC organizers regarding your proposal no later than March 25th. If you have any questions please contact, epocseattlechapter@gmail.com
