One Albuquerque Cleanup Day
Join the City’s Solid Waste Management Department and Keep Albuquerque Beautiful for One Albuquerque Cleanup Day on Saturday, April 20th from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Gather a group of friends or neighbors and register to clean up your neighborhood, park, or other area that needs it in honor of Earth Day! With your help we can all work together to keep Albuquerque clean and beautiful.
Recyclothes
Keep Albuquerque Beautiful and Locker #505 are teaming up to sponsor the 12th Annual Recyclothes event at Hinkle Fun Center. Every year, thousands of students in the greater Albuquerque area and their families go without basic necessities. Recyclothes is a clothing drive that directly benefits those students. Locker #505 partners with Albuquerque schools to make sure students in need have clothes, shoes, undergarments and coats so they can focus on learning.
Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event
In order to participate, residents must fill out Participant Form. Bring printed form day of.
Take advantage of this opportunity to dispose of up to 55 gallons of household hazardous waste. Examples of household hazardous waste include waste that can burn easily (flammable), corrode or irritate skin (corrosive), or poison humans and animals (toxic).
FixIt Clinic
Do you have a broken item in need of repair? Join us at the FixIt Clinic!
Keep Albuquerque Beautiful is partnering with Quelab Makerspace to host this year's FixIt Clinic. Bring your broken household items and learn from our experienced coaches how they can be repaired. This is a free, all-ages event where people can learn how to assess, disassemble, and hopefully repair broken household items instead of sending them to the landfill. The acceptable items include bikes, small appliances, electronics, and sewing projects.
We are also looking for skilled individuals who are handy and experienced in sewing, woodwork, leatherwork, electronics, small appliances, and jewelry. We invite you to register as a coach if you have any of these skills.
The deadline to register is Friday, February 9th at 5pm.
Free Treecycling
The Solid Waste Management Department (SWMD), Parks and Recreation, and PNM are teaming up to offer residents a chance to recycle their real Christmas trees. The program kicks off on December 26, 2023, and runs through January 8, 2024, at three separate locations in Albuquerque. No artificial trees will be accepted.
PNM Vegetation Management crews and Parks and Recreation staff will grind trees into mulch chips, which can provide a better growing environment for plants and residential landscapes. Residents can pick up the mulch chips free of charge while supplies last. Last year, this program kept more than 3,600 trees out of the landfill.
Trees may be dropped off between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., starting on Tuesday, December 26 at the following the locations:

Please remove all bags, tree stands, decorations and lights from trees before dropping them off to be mulched. Limit of five trees per resident, no commercial customers.
Fall Green Waste Collection
The City of Albuquerque’s Solid Waste Management Department will pick up residential Green Waste at no additional charge. This year’s fall Green Waste collection program begins on Monday, November 27 and will end on Friday, December 8, 2023.
Solid Waste customers should have their Green Waste at the curb by 7 a.m. on the day of their regular trash collection day. All Green Waste must be placed 5 feet from automated trash and recycling containers as well as any large items scheduled for pick-up. Solid Waste customers must place their Green Waste (leaves, grass, and brush) in trash bags.
Each trash bag should not weigh more than 40 pounds. Customers that have branches must cut them to four-foot lengths and bundle them securely.
The following items will not be picked up: dirt, construction debris, gravel, construction material, or tree stumps.
The green waste is processed into a rough chip mulch and is used to help prevent erosion at the Cerro Colorado Landfill.
Junk Jog!
Join Keep Albuquerque Beautiful and the City’s Solid Waste Management Department on Saturday, October 28, 2023 for the fifth annual Junk Jog - a "plogging" event. Plogging, a combination of jogging and picking up litter, began several years ago as an organized activity in Sweden because of growing concerns about marine debris and litter. Keep Albuquerque Beautiful, alongside the City Solid Waste Management are bringing this trend back to the Southwest by inspiring Burquenos to help make our communities cleaner, safer, healthier, and more beautiful.
Ploggers will have the opportunity to jog a 1-mile loop (or more if they choose) while picking up litter along two Bosque trails near Central and Sunset. Participants are invited to register as individuals or to form Junk Jog teams to help keep Albuquerque’s Bosque beautiful.
Each plogger will receive a plastic garbage bag, gloves, and a litter grabber to pick up the trash, as well as an official t-shirt. At water stops along the route, volunteers will cheer participants on and help ploggers exchange filled garbage bags for new bags. At the end of the jog, each plogger’s trash bags will be counted. Prizes will be given to the top three individuals and groups that collect the most litter.

Company’s Comin' is our fall neighborhood cleanup initiative. Join neighborhoods all over the City or hundreds of volunteers at Balloon Fiesta Park to help #KeepABQBeautiful. To help you clean up your neighborhood, Keep Albuquerque Beautiful and the City of Albuquerque Solid Waste Management Department will:
• Provide free trash bags and gloves for your cleanup
• Collect your neighborhood waste from the cleanup at 12 p.m. on Saturday, September 30

State of the City
Free, all ages event! The Community Expo and Celebration at the Albuquerque Rail Yards is happening from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. followed by the Mayor’s State of the City Address at 1 p.m. Come visit us, play our recycling game, and learn more about how you can get involved to help keep Albuquerque Beautiful.

There will also be free donuts while supplies last.

City of Albuquerque’s Department of Municipal Development, Engineering Division; Solid Waste Management Department; Bernalillo County, and Advanced Chemical Transport (ACT) are sponsoring a free household hazardous waste collection event at Balloon Fiesta Park.
Residents of Albuquerque and Bernalillo County are encouraged to bring their household hazardous waste on this drop-off day. Examples of household hazardous waste include those items that can burn easily (flammable), corrode or irritate the skin (corrosive), or poison humans and animals (toxic).

Park Cleanup with we.grow.eco
we.grow.eco, in collaboration with Keep Albuquerque Beautiful and Albuquerque Parks and Rec, invites folks in the Albuquerque community to join us on Saturday, October 2nd at 9:30 a.m. at Westgate Community Park to pick up some litter together.
Chauncey has decided to walk from Virginia Beach, Virginia to San Francisco, California. His friend Noah is driving the support vehicle and helping to coordinate & document the adventures. along the way, they're meeting up with folks in local communities to pick up trash & talk about civic engagement & grassroots organizing. learn more about the project at www.wegroweco.org.
Upon arrival for the cleanup:
We will have a brief orientation about how the morning will go, then split into smaller groups
"Collector" groups will be a given gloves & bags/buckets, & will then spread out in the park
One group will hang back as the "sorters," and as collectors come back with buckets of trash, they will sort by type & brand, then use the One Piece A Day smartphone app to document the litter
After collecting & documenting our litter haul, we will gather together to take a group photo & debrief about single-use plastic pollution & possible grassroots power-driven solutions
