Information Portal

Your City’s data at your fingertips

At the Office of Inspector General (OIG), we work every day to shine a light on the inner workings of Chicago’s governance. OIG’s public-facing dashboards, presented on this Information Portal, were created to make complex information more comprehensible and readily available.

The Information Portal allows members of the public to search for and visualize facts and statistics about Chicago’s police and public safety operations, City and OIG employees, and City budget. Users can filter datasets by demographics and locations to pinpoint findings for academic, journalistic, or general use.

Some information you can find in our dashboards includes:

  • City of Chicago annual budget and number of positions, by department and year
  • Number of active City of Chicago and OIG employees by demographic or mapped by ward
  • Number of dispatched 911 calls by City ward
  • Chicago Police Department members by unit, assignment, and ward

New to using data portals? Visit our Frequently Asked Questions for help overall with dashboard navigation, and look for the “Click to Show User Guide” icon on each dashboard for user details specific to that dashboard.
