Upcoming Programs


Our teen programs are only for ages 12 to 18 to help participants feel welcome and comfortable in a teen-only environment.

Registration is required for select teen programs: Teen Anime Club, Teen Book Box, Teen Late Night: Prom, and 100 Books Before Graduation Reading Challenge. Programs that require registration also have an asterisk (*) on the list below. All other teen programs are first, come first served.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact the Teen Services Librarian. If you need an accommodation for equal program access, please contact her in advance (at least 24 hours before the program) to make an accessibility request.

Starting March 4, 2024, the new Helen Hall Library Usage Policy and Library Card Fee Resolution will be implemented. This requires guests to have a valid Helen Hall Library card or TexShare card for program entry. The card may be the guest's personal card or the card of someone in their household (e.g. their guardian). Helen Hall Library cards are free for League City, Friendswood, and Galveston County residents and property owners. Teen Late Night: Not Prom

Celebrate prom your way! Party with us and enjoy music, karaoke, and refreshments. Participants are encouraged to dress up or in costume.
Note: Helen Hall Library cards or TexShare cards are required to participate per the Helen Hall Library Usage Policy and Library Card Fee Resolution. Teens are required to have transportation present at the end of the event.

100 Books Before Graduation

We challenge you to read 100 books before graduating high school!
Teens who complete the challenge will receive prizes and major bragging rights!

Strategy-Based Card Games: Clash of the Cards

Explore new ways to sharpen your skills with strategy-based card games such as Happy Little Dinosaurs, Exploding Kittens, and Magic: The Gathering! All experience levels are welcome. This program is led by a Teen Advisory Board member.
*Note: Card games are provided, but participants are welcome to bring their own teen-rated games. Seats are limited and available on a first come, first served basis.

Game On: Board games, video games, and lots of fun!

Drop by to play Nintendo Switch games, Cards Against Humanity: Family Edition, Monopoly, and more!
*Note: Games are provided, but participants are welcome to bring their own teen-rated games. Smart phones/tablets with internet access are needed for Jackbox games.

Game Showdown

Do you scream at your television knowing you could do better than contestants in game shows? Step into their shoes and compete with others in classic game shows! This program is led by a Teen Advisory Board member.

Teen Advisory Board: Plan teen activities, assist with library events, and more!

Become an ambassador for your Library and gain leadership experience! Help plan teen activities, assist with Library events, and more. Participation counts as service hours, and new members are welcome!

Note: Applications for new members are provided at the end of each meeting.

Teen Anime Club

Calling all anime fans! Join us to watch and discuss some good anime shows while eating snacks.
Note: Registration is required. Starting March 4, 2024, Helen Hall Library cards or TexShare cards are required to participate per the Helen Hall Library Usage Policy and Library Card Fee Resolution. Anime shows selected are rated PG-13 and TV-14.

Teen Aspiring Authors

Grow as an emerging author! Share your works in progress with fellow writers and provide feedback for each other. This program is led by a Teen Advisory Board member.
Note: Please bring your original works so that other aspiring authors can provide feedback. Original works may include PG-13 and TV-14 content. Seats are limited and available on a first come, first served basis.

The award-winning program: Teen Book Box

Do you love to visit the Library but don't always have time to browse for a good book? Join Teen Book Box! Fill out a registration form to start picking up monthly boxes with treats and a book selected just for you!
Note: Library cards are required to participate.

Teen Support Circle

Discover a safe space to connect, express, and receive support from other teens while participating in therapeutic activities. We offer both large and small groups to ensure everyone's voice is heard. This program is led by a Teen Advisory Board member.

Teen Unravelers

Relax and enjoy the company of others while you knit, crochet, embroider, and sew! There is no formal instruction, but beginners are welcome. Please bring your own materials and tools to be a part of the needlework experience. This program is led by a Teen Advisory Board member.

Teen Writers Club

Discover the writer within you! Refine your skills and find inspiration through fun writing activities while supporting each other through the creative writing journey.

Free Comic Book Day 2024; for all ages

Visit us for Free Comic Book Day! Our Teen Advisory Board (TAB) is giving away free comics and hosting fun activities to promote the love of reading and help new readers discover comics.
Note: Helen Hall Library cards or TexShare cards are required to participate per the Helen Hall Library Usage Policy and Library Card Fee Resolution. Comics are limited and available while supplies last.

Curious about teen activities at the library? Our Teen Advisory Board (TAB) is extending a special invitation to older tweens and new teens for an exclusive sneak peek! Join us for an exciting evening filled with Nintendo Switch games, Cards Against Humanity: Family Edition, Monopoly, and uncover the fantastic perks of being a teen at Helen Hall Library!
Note: Helen Hall Library cards or TexShare cards are required to participate per the Helen Hall Library Usage Policy and Library Card Fee Resolution. Games are rated for teens or below; please reach out to the Teen Librarian at sheldon.stevens@leaguecitytx.gov for more details. Teen Advisory Board members are library volunteers that are ages 12 to 18.

The Ultimate Tournament

3. 2. 1. GO! Put your game face on and play Super Smash Bros. Ultimate against others. Register to play in the tournament or to show up to cheer for your friends!
Note: Helen Hall Library cards or TexShare cards are required to participate per the Helen Hall Library Usage Policy and Library Card Fee Resolution. GameCube controllers will be provided and are the only controllers used for the tournament. It is recommended to attend Game On to practice with the tournament controllers.
