@CityMouse @lseeman It would be great to get a sense of the user need here? Some details on why this requirement is important, indications of research etc,

Thanks @lseeman Yes, I'll be there. I'm happy to provide this feedback in different ways that work for you, if you let me know what you need.

@joshueoconnor I know that you'll be on the COGA TF call tomorrow (I won't be), but wanted to weigh in with a couple of hopefully helpful bits here regarding your request for user needs:

Pace and speed of movement can have multiple implications in the cognitive space:

  • One is for individuals who struggle with sensory reactions to movement. For some, simply slowing down the experience will help them avoid severe headaches or sensory overwhelm.
  • Another is individuals who might need more time to process what has happened, or to respond. They simply need the experience to slow down for them so that they can effectively engage. It's not that they need something simplified, they just need more time. This even includes information that comes in through movements, or their own movements.
  • Another is in the reverse. Some people can tune out and lose focus if things are moving too slowly. They need to be able to make things faster.
  • There's also the concern of medical events caused by movement, which is already considered.

Patterns from the Content Usable document that might help further illustrate these needs:
