I wish I would have seen this post back in April. I was fishing from the bank at Allatoona Lake and really struggled catching crappie. I also have a 3.5 year old granddaughter that recently caught her 1st Bass & 1st Rainbow Trout and she loves to fish.

I'm not trying to steal your spot, but what general area/structure/cover is productive, and what depth of water ? Do you catch crappie throughout the rest of the summer ?

Deep
Docks 20-40’ with Brush, and brush piles in 20-30’ are awful good to me almost year around….of
Course things vary some but give me 20’ of water and some brush and we can usually get enough for a frying…

Hey Worley - I appreciate the reply. I am planning my first trip over there and want to fish the upper end of Hartwell for crappie, perch ofr any kind of panfish that might be available. Can you give any advice on that area of the lake at this time of year ? Thanks

Standing timber and brush in Little Chestoe creek should have plenty of fish….little community dock in the Mouth of LC has some brush tied in it and between the slips….I’d bet you could catch a few there and your right at Eastanolle creek which is one of my favorites as well, standing timber and brush will have big white crappie close by….if a creek channel / ledge is close to brush or timber that’s a double bonus. In Eastanolle check channel buoy markers for brush, ive been told they brush on some of them just saying ?

Thanks for the info, Worley. Do you ever fish further up, between the spring branch ramp and Stephens County Park ?

We have done good at times at the broken bridges, right there at Stephens County Park. Also, in the early spring, just above the 123 bridge in the cove to the left. It is to late in the year and to shallow in there right now to be holding crappie though.

If you go south from Spring Branch, on the right before you get to Jenkins Ferry is a long narrow cove that has produced for us in the past also. The farther back you go, the more shallow it gets, so I would look for submerged brush around the boat docks at the mouth of the cove, right on the river bed
