Building Connections: Strengthening Our Digital Equity Community
TLC's 9th Annual Conference
October 5th, 2023
Temple University
Timed to coincide with National Digital Inclusion Week and to preview the Net Inclusion 2024 Conference in Philadelphia, the conference will feature guest speakers, breakout sessions, and more. As we continue to expand our digital equity network in Philadelphia, across the state of Pennsylvania, and nationally, we are building connections in our community and reaching new partners. We want existing TLC members and new partners to learn more about the field, including new opportunities for funding and partnerships, best practices for digital inclusion activities and community outreach, and new developments in research and advocacy.
Submission deadline: September 15th
Sessions will be one hour in length and could be structured as a workshop, panel discussion, presentation, or other format. Below is a non-exhaustive list of topics that we'd like to see discussed at our conference this year. We welcome submissions on these topics, but are also open to other ideas from our community.
-Digital Equity Research and Advocacy: Discussion of research and advocacy priorities for digital equity work in Philadelphia. Discussion of the local, regional, and federal funding opportunities.
-Digital Skills and Digital Navigation Practitioners: Share existing programming in your digital skills or digital navigation work. Established and new digital skills and digital navigation practitioners are welcome to share their experiences with education, outreach, community engagement, and professional development.
-Digital Equity Resources: Information and insights about programs and resources that address internet access (including the ACP), device access (including refurbishing), and digital skills training. Discussion of the equity aspect of this work including the barriers that exist for BIPOC, people with disabilities, english language learners, or other communities.
-Intersection of Digital Equity with Other Programs: Strategies and programs that address both digital inclusion and other social service programs such as adult education, workforce development, health equity, youth development, civic engagement, media literacy, etc.
