IRVING 2024 VIP Summer Camp Application

4/08 UPDATE: Due to application numbers, all future applicants will be placed on a waitlist.  We have accepted almost all applicants off the waitlist in the past, so please complete the application.  You will be notified closer to the start of camp if placement is possible. The VIP Summer Program will be held in-person at Irving Middle School this summer! Rising 7th and 8th graders residing in Fairfax County in boundaries for the follow middle schools are invited to register: Frost MS, Irving MS, Lake Braddock SS, Robinson SS and South County MS.

Program Details:
Mondays - Fridays, 9 am - 4 pm (site is available at 8 am for drop-offs)
Monday, July 1 - Thursday, August 1 (no camp on July 4 and 5)

After School Program Specialist Contacts:

Irving MS: Ms. Duncan, naduncan@fcps.edu
Lake Braddock SS: Mr. Minnis, jjminnis1@fcps.edu
Robinson SS: Mrs. Molle, cemolle@fcps.edu
South County MS: Mr. Woodby, cwwoodby@fcps.edu

Space in VIP is limited. Though timing of registration is a factor, it is not solely a first come, first serve acceptance process.  We consider a variety of factors when processing applications to provide a balanced camp (such as, but not limited to: number of participants per middle school, grade level, registration timing, participant availability, etc.). An email notification of acceptance status will be sent by May 3rd. Program paperwork and payment procedures will be reviewed in the email of acceptance. All camp paperwork and payments will be due by June 12th. We will offer rolling admission from a waitlist as campers drop out or fail to enroll. You will be notified as space becomes available.

VIP camp costs $100 to attend (scholarships are available in cases of financial hardship - reach out to your school's After-School Specialist).  Families will be notified about payment procedures in their acceptance email.  All payments will be accepted from Wednesday, March 13th until Friday, April 19th.  Participants who have not paid by that time will be removed from the list and we will offer the spot to the next student on our waitlist.

Field Trips - We will take 5 field trips throughout the summer. There is a cost for students to attend the field trips. The field trip fees will cover admission costs and bus transportation. Field trip information (dates, locations, and fees) are listed below and will be discussed at the parent meeting on Wednesday, June 5th.  The field trip fees need to be paid for through MySchoolBucks along with your registration fee, available in the MySchoolBucks store beginning on Wednesday, March 13th. Fees will be collected in advance and will not be accepted the day of the trip. To maintain safe staff to student ratios, we will send all staff members on the field trips and none will remain at the VIP site. If your student chooses not to attend a field trip, please make alternate plans as sites will be closed that day. Please speak with your After-School Specialist if financial assistance is required.

  1. WaterMine - Wednesday, July 3rd - $20.00
  2. Funland – Friday, July 12th - $40.00

There will be a mandatory parent meeting on Wednesday, June 5th at 6 pm, at Irving Middle School. We will review all camp activities, field trips, procedures, and introduce some of our camp staff.  The meeting will be held in-person at Irving Middle School.
