This project will construct a 10-foot-wide shared-use path as part of the proposed South Sumter Trail along the west side of State Road (S.R.) 471 from S.R. 50 to County Road (C.R.) 478. The project will include paving the trail and adding drainage improvements, lighting, and new signs and pavement markings. A new pedestrian crossing south of Central Avenue will also be constructed.

The South Sumter Connector Trail is part of the larger Coast-to-Coast Trail, which extends approximately 250 miles across the peninsula of Florida from the Gulf of Mexico in St. Petersburg to the Atlantic Ocean in the vicinity of the Canaveral National Seashore.

Lane Closures
  • Tuesday, March 26, through Tuesday, April 30 (except Mondays), from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.: Motorists should expect northbound and southbound intermittent lane closures on S.R. 471 from S.R. 50 to C.R. 478 for clearing, loading/unloading of equipment, and paving operations. For your safety as well as the safety of others, please reduce your speed, heed posted signage, and exercise caution throughout the work zone.
