US WORK AUTHORIZATION FAQ’S

P&G generally considers the following individuals eligible for hire:

  • U.S. citizens;
  • U.S. nationals;
  • Work-authorized lawful permanent residents;
  • Work-authorized asylees;
  • Work-authorized refugees;
  • Work-authorized individuals granted residence under the 1986 immigration amnesty law;
  • Work-authorized individuals granted deferred action through the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (“DACA”) program;
  • Work authorized individuals granted Temporary Protected Status (“TPS”);
  • Work-authorized individuals granted Deferred Enforced Departure (“DED”);
  • Work-authorized individuals granted protection through the Violence Against Women Act (“VAWA Petitioners”);
  • Work authorized individuals who hold a U-visa;
  • Work-authorized individuals who hold a T-visa;
  • Work-authorized derivatives (e.g., family members) of VAWA petitioners or those who hold U or T visas.

Generally, P&G does not sponsor candidates for employment-based visas.  P&G may make limited exceptions, however, for highly specialized roles for which the talent pool is limited.  These typically include positions in research and development that require certain technical expertise.

If you have a valid work authorization through DACA, TPS, DED, VAWA or through a U or T visa, P&G considers you eligible for hire if otherwise qualified.  Accordingly, you should respond “NO” to the question on the online application that asks whether you will require visa sponsorship now or in the future.

Individuals with CPT,OPT, or STEM OPT who will need future sponsorship through an H1B, TN, O1, E-3 (or similar sponsored status) should answer “Yes.” If you do not need sponsorship in the future then answer “No”.

It is important for us to understand if there will be a need to sponsor in the future, even if it is for a short period of time, to ensure that there is no interruption in work authorization. If you believe that there may be an interruption in work authorization because your pending process is not or will not yet be completed, then answer “Yes.”
