Vermont's building energy standards, also called "energy codes", are regularly updated to make sure we are on track to meet our "net zero energy ready construction by 2030" statewide goal. On July 1, 2024 the newest updates to Residential Building Energy Standards (RBES) and Commercial Building Energy Standards (CBES) will be effective. This session will review the new energy 2024 RBES, significant changes and updates, and options for compliance.

Learning Objective 1:
Learn what the updates to the 2024 CBES energy code are and how their changes help meet 2030 net zero goals.

Learning Objective 2:
Understand how changes for 2024 CBES energy code changes compare to the 2020 CBES.

Learning Objective 3:
Learn how Vermont plans to achieve "net zero ready" construction by 2030 through incremental energy efficiency building standards.

Learning Objective 4:
Learn about Vermont's efforts to review existing energy code enforcement structures and options for implementing a new statewide energy code compliance approach.
