This dataset includes the cruise summary report and eight data files that provide the underway data collected in the National Marine Sanctuary of American Samoa on board the research sail boat Tara from 2016-11-27 to 2016-11-28. The parameters are detailed in the parameter-dictionary file. Parameters include: temperature, salinity, photosynthetically-active-radiation, wind-direction, wind-speed, atmospheric-pressure, dew-point, aerosol-particle-concentration, colored-dissolved-organic-matter-fluorescence, particle-size-distribution-slope, particle-volume-scattering-function, particulate-organic-carbon-concentration, phytoplankton-carbon-concentration, chlorophyll-concentration, and particle-backscattering. Purpose Tara Pacific is a worldwide sampling effort with a double aim: understanding the evolution of coral reefs in the context of climate and demographic changes, and understanding how sea-surface ecosystems are controlled by various environmental factors such as aerosols inputs, temperature, salinity, macro and micronutrients.
