Be part of Atlanta’s Vision Zero success -Take the pledge!
In April 2020, the City of Atlanta adopted Vision Zero – committing to eliminating traffic deaths and injuries on our streets. We believe that everyone deserves safe, accessible streets and sidewalks, and that any loss of life is unacceptable.
In 2020, 65 people tragically lost their lives due to traffic crashes in the City of Atlanta. Many crashes are related to high vehicle speeds. The good news is that these fatalities are preventable. We, therefore, recognize that reducing vehicle speeds across the city is essential to achieving Vision Zero.
The Atlanta Department of Transportation is committed to doing our part. Last year, we lowered our default speed limit to 25 mph and are currently replacing this signage across the city. Once completed, nearly 75% of Atlanta’s streets will be 25 mph. We are implementing engineering solutions to reinforce those signs so that our streets are safer by design.
But we cannot do this alone - People must also change the way they drive.
Do your part in making Vision Zero a reality. Take the pledge today and commit to driving safely at all times. Your actions here will help us take an important step towards eliminating fatalities and severe injuries in Atlanta.
When you take this pledge, don’t just click the button — please take it to heart. Drive slower. Be alert. Remember that when you #Drive25 you #SaveLives!
